Adventurous Winter Engagement on Tumalo Mountain, Oregon

Not every engagement session starts with a 2:30AM alarm...

but that’s exactly how Kelsey and Cody’s shoot on Tumalo Mountain began. We met at the trailhead in the middle of the night, headlamps on and packs loaded for the climb. Cody, being the legend he is, showed up with a homemade breakfast burrito that paired perfectly with the black coffee I carried. That kind of start set the tone—fun, adventurous, and totally them.

The trail was icy, the wind was biting, and the summit felt like it was covered in bullet-proof snow. None of it slowed us down. We hustled to the top just in time to watch the first light spill over the Central Oregon Cascades. The view was unreal—jagged mountain peaks painted in that soft alpine glow you only get for a few fleeting minutes. Cold hands, frozen toes, and wind in our faces didn’t matter. This is what we came for.

What stood out most was how much energy Kelsey and Cody brought with them. They weren’t phased by the conditions—they laughed, embraced, and leaned into every moment. Their chemistry and adventurous spirit made the session feel effortless. Every frame captured the kind of connection that doesn’t need staging; it’s just there, and the mountain backdrop made it that much stronger.
