A Shepherdsfield Wedding in Sisters, Oregon: Joey & Randon’s Unforgettable Day
Shepherdsfield sits on a hilltop between Sisters and Redmond, Oregon, with wide-open views of the countryside. It was such a great backdrop for Joey & Randon’s wedding. The night before, rain poured hard, but by morning the skies started to clear just as promised. The weather couldn’t have been better—comfortable, calm, and ready for a celebration.
Getting Ready at Shepherdsfield
Shepherdsfield is one of those venues that immediately sets the tone—it sits on a hill between Sisters and Redmond with sweeping views of the countryside. The night before Joey and Randon’s wedding, it poured. But sure enough, the forecast held true: the skies cleared in the morning, and the day was perfect.
Private Vows in the Garden
These two didn’t want a traditional first look—they wanted Randon to see Joey for the first time as she walked down the aisle. But they also wanted private vows. So, just before the ceremony, I coordinated a way for them to have both. I set Randon in the garden at Shepherdsfield, and Joey approached from behind. They exchanged words that were meaningful, honest, and deeply personal. Before they began, I asked if they would like it all documented or if they'd prefer space - they asked for space and I happily gave it to them. No offense taken—I respected that moment, and I knew it was exactly what they wanted.
Wedding Party & Family
Photographing their crew was a blast. Bridesmaids, groomsmen, family—it was rowdy, fun, and full of personality. Everyone came ready to celebrate and it showed. These weren’t stiff, posed photos. They were lively, with genuine laughs and plenty of energy.
A Shepherdsfield Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony itself was short, sweet, and full of emotion. Randon’s face when Joey came down the aisle said it all. Their kids, who had met at age five and instantly became best friends, were the ring bearer and flower girl—just as much a part of this story as their parents. Seeing their blended family together, laughing, supporting, and celebrating, felt like the heart of this day. One moment I’ll never forget: Joey's mom truly sees the value in wedding photography and I'll always remember capturing a photo of her and Joey's dad looking at their daughter while they walked her down the aisle together.
Celebrating Together
Shepherdsfield has a way of making a wedding feel effortless. The venue is so open and easy to navigate with tons of room for everyone to enjoy (or work). The venue owner and manager, John, was everywhere at once without missing a single detail. Mailee with Noble Begionnings Wedding Co was 10 steps ahead at any moment - she was incredible to watch work and was so cool, calm, and in control the entire time. Fire Fare Food Service served up a delicious dinner, Too Sweet Cakes made the dessert, and the whole space transformed into a full-on party. I especially loved the flower wall and photo booth thanks to Media Mindscape. It was all just awesome.
Of course, not everything went as planned. When it came time to cut the cake, Joey & Randon discovered it was still frozen solid from the freezer. Everyone laughed, shrugged, and kept the celebration rolling—because that’s the kind of easygoing people they are.
The energy (and number of drinks) on the dance floor was unmatched. Tons of laughter, kids weaving their way around the adults, and nonstop dancing... it was exactly the kind of reception Joey & Randon wanted: fun and unforgettable
Portraits with a Rainbow
As the sun started to flirt with the horizon line, I stole Joey & Randon away for a few quiet portraits around the property and behind the ceremony site. Rays of light were stretching across the property and a rainbow stretched across the sky to the east. It was one of those moments you can’t plan—you just enjoy it. Joey & Randon smiled, laughed, and held onto each other like they always do. For me, it was the perfect way to close out my time with them—ending on the highest note possible.
Summing Up This Shepherdsfield Wedding
Joey & Randon’s Shepherdsfield wedding in Sisters, Oregon wasn’t about flash or production. It was about love, family, and celebrating life together. From private vows to a raucous dance floor, from frozen cake to a rainbow sunset—it was everything a wedding should be: honest, joyful, and completely theirs.
