Family-Focused Wedding at The Marshall House, Fort Vancouver

Not every wedding is about over-the-top productions. Sometimes it’s about creating space for the people who matter most. Carrie and Bryan’s wedding at The Marshall House in Fort Vancouver, Washington was exactly that: short, simple, and beautiful in all the right ways.

A Historic Setting at The Marshall House

The Marshall House is a beautiful venue on Officers Row at Fort Vancouver, Washington. Built in 1886, it offers old-world character with high ceilings, wide staircases, and elegant rooms filled with light. It was the perfect backdrop for this intimate wedding attended by those closest to the bride and groom. With temperatures outside pushing past 100 degrees, everything unfolded indoors across the spacious rooms, keeping everyone cool while still enjoying the historic charm of the home.

Family First

What stood out about this Marshall House wedding wasn’t decor or details—it was family. Both Carrie and Bryan’s children stood with them during the ceremony, where vows were spoken not only to one another but also to their children. Those promises turned what could have been a simple exchange of rings into something much bigger: a commitment to a blended family. Carrie’s father walked her down the aisle, a moment that carried extra emotion. With parents on both sides in attendance—some well into their 80s—the wedding also gave the couple lasting photographs of family members they hold dear.

A Ceremony Led by a Firefighter Pastor

Bryan is a firefighter, and fittingly, their pastor is as well. Pastor Pete has long served the firefighting community, offering marriage support and officiating weddings like this one. The ceremony lasted only about 15 minutes, but it was filled with meaning. Honest vows, promises to their children, and a heartfelt exchange between Carrie and Bryan. It was quick, but it was everything they wanted.

Reception Inside the Marshall House

After the ceremony, everyone gathered for a casual buffet meal and cake cutting. No big production—just great food thanks to Hidden House Event Space, conversation, and laughter among family and friends. The Marshall House made this feel relaxed and warm, a space where guests could move between dining and mingling with ease.
