Ben and Allison grew up in the same world without ever really finding each other. She was an acquaintance, nothing more, until college changed the equation. They got together in the back half of the pandemic, moved to Austin after graduation, built a life around good food, travel, health, and the comfort of just being home together. Five years later, he was ready to make it official, and he wanted to do it somewhere that felt as considered and intentional as their relationship.

The Day Everything Came Together

A walk to the island seemed like the natural thing to do. I was already hidden, camera tucked in the bushes, positioned just off the path they would walk. They passed within feet of me and Allison had no idea. Once they reached the island, Ben walked Allison to the exact spot we had planned, dropped to one knee, and asked her to marry him. She said yes. We spent the next hour shooting on the island, exploring the cave, and moving through the Ghost Tree forest as the light wound down around us. Then I stepped away and let them enjoy the dinner they had both actually earned.
