Open fields, tall pines, and a relationship worth documenting

 

The Wind Showed Up. We Stayed.


Melissa, Maycie, and myself started in a field and the wind immediately had opinions. Hair everywhere... except for me ;). The kind of afternoon where lesser sessions call it and move on. We didn't. We stayed patient, read the space, and found what helped. When we moved into the pines it was a completely different world. Still. Light cutting through the canopy at exactly the right angle. Brisk afternoon, crystal clear skies, and two locations that ended up being exactly right for totally different reasons.

A Bond That Speaks for Itself


Melissa and Maycie have been through things together. You can see it in how they move around each other, how fast they make each other laugh, how little they need to explain to get on the same page. They are close in the way that only exists between a mother and daughter. That isn't something I create in front of a camera. It's already there. I just have to be ready when it shows up in the frame.

Everyone Has Beauty Worth Capturing


I hear some version of "I'm not a photo person" before almost every session (I get it). But here is the thing: most people have never been photographed by someone who's genuinely pulling for them. That changes everything... it's my magic trick. I don't quietly sit behind a lens like a little mouse waiting for something to happen. I'm in it. Loud about what I see, calling out the good frames, keeping the energy moving, and unapologetically excited about the experience. People relax into that fast. And when they do, the version of themselves they were worried about tends to walk right out the door.

This Is More Than a Photoshoot


Here is what people do not expect going in: they walk away feeling something. Melissa and Maycie did not just leave with great photos. They spent an afternoon completely locked in with each other. No distractions. Just the two of them doing something a little outside their comfort zone, together. This added up to something awesome and the photos reflect it. Not two people standing in a field looking pretty, but two people who actually showed up for each other. That is the difference.

If a session like this has been sitting in the back of your head, stop waiting for the right time. You don't need to feel ready. You don't need to be a photo person. You just need to show up. I'll handle the rest.
